Internship — Space & Product Design
Creative Time Lab · Villeurbanne (Lyon) · From September 2026
Creative Time Lab works on the relationship between people and time. Our current focus is the Space of Futurization — an immersive, interactive installation about how we relate to the future. It has been deployed at festivals including Terres du Son, and its positive psychosocial impact on emotions and sense of agency has been measured, with support from Fondation April.
From September we have a more permanent home: a temporary urbanism space in Villeurbanne, next to Lyon. We’re looking for an intern in space or product design to help us bring to life a new version of the installation — one that can be deployed for school, professional and festival audiences.
What you’d work on
Designing the next iteration of the installation: its spatial logic, its objects, and how it packs down, travels and reassembles in very different settings — a classroom, a conference venue, a festival field.
Challenge is to make it easier to unfold, install and to pack down (currently we need at least 2 professionals to install it during 2 days; packing it down – again min. 2 people and 1 day; and it takes up to 18 m3 in transportation). We are aiming to have the installation ‘in a suitcase’.
Who we’re looking for
A student or recent graduate in space, interior, or product/retail design. Curious about how design meets psychology. Comfortable moving between drawing, prototyping and building. Based in Lyon for the placement (Erasmus and other placement schemes welcome).
Timing
Start mid-September, October at the latest.
